pangbianr x Caochangdi PhotoSpring present ANACHRONISMS: Haunting films of a defunct Polaroid factory shot on super8mm + photos from the Beijing 24 Hour photo project paired with live performances of stark Modernist compositions from a bygone era of analog music.
Come to the Three Shadows courtyard on Sunday, April 24th from 7-10pm for a unique event pairing short super 8mm films shot by the Impossible Project at the defunct Polaroid factory in Enschede, the Netherlands with live performances by Yan Yulong, Fat City and Soviet Pop.

Yan Yulong is a Beijing-based multi-instrumentalist whose current projects include Chuiwan and Sister Oriented. His solo electric viola work consists of dense, richly melodic harmonies layered under sporadic arpeggios and more atonal bursts that betray his appreciation for Philip Glass and Steve Reich.

Fat City is Ma Meng and Zhu Wenbo. The duo began in 2008. They use keyboard, guitar, drums, and sing in Chinese. They like krautrock, prog-rock, ambient and industrial music, beat-poetry and noise sound. They are trying to melt these things together to make their own sound.

To Die in the Country – Soviet Pop by Rose Mansion Analog
Soviet Pop is an experimental synth duo composed of Li Weisi and Li Qing. Qing and Weisi were the original drummer and bassist of noise-rock band Carsick Cars, but over time their musical interests have drifted to increasingly esoteric sonic territories. Soviet Pop’s music couples the hypnotic electronic pulse of Kluster with the meandering psychedelic minimalism of Silver Apples to create a subtle, textured soundscape they call “osc sound song research.”
soviet pop成立于2009年，北京，主要活跃于排练室和由成员所创造的声响中。普遍的翻译为“苏维埃流行”，但成员们认为“苏维埃波普”更合适，最主要的，听起来也比较体面，感觉很高级。他们的音乐兴趣主要在于由振荡器所发出的声音，任何声音，没有振荡器他们就不能演奏。手法上，两个成员都偏向初级的，无技术的演奏方式，并且对拧动和推动电位器有着特殊的爱好，这也导致了他们的设备磨损得很快。对于他们创造的音乐，基本上可以理解为三个部分：声音的产生，声音的控制，以及声音的重新组合。其实啊任何音乐都是由这三个部分组成的！遵循这个概念的最终目标是创造出可以不用歌曲的概念来定义的5分钟以内的声音作品，或者说曲目。歌词上，成员们主要从各类偏向非文学的书籍中得到灵感，并加入了一部分证伪主义的影响，所要表达的尽是一些无趣并无意义的观点。很多知名偶像团体都是soviet pop的榜样，如thenorman，Kluster，morton sputnik，stockholm之流。
