The mission was deceptively simple: Find a replacement needle for Sophia‘s vintage record player in the vinyl-cultureless haystack that is Beijing. Jordan spent a few hours in Xinjiekou looking for musical equipment last week and asked around. He led us to 得利 A/V Parts.

This place has virtually any part you’d need for audio/visual equipment. We only asked about the record needle but I also looked into VGA>HDMI adapters. Lucky stall 888 had a box full of the exact part Sophia needed to replace.

The market is De Li Dianzi Dianqi Peitao Shicheng at 51 Xisi Bei Dajie. From the southwest exit of Ping’anli on Line 4, take a right and walk for a few blocks.
