New Jams: Friend or Foe remixed

By , 2012年 12月 13日

Friend or Foe from Shanghai just dropped some new ish. What Have You Done With My Claw?! is a remix album, the source material ostensibly coming from 2011 LP My Claw is Never Limp! But it couldn’t be more different. The infamously masked trio enlisted the help of China-based producers and assorted electronic-oriented musicians to re-conceptualize the album, the end result being a shockingly dancehall-ready assortment that couldn’t be further from the balls-out rock you may currently associate with the band. Not sure how it’ll translate live. We can find out this weekend: Friend or Foe are coming to Beijing for two gigs, Friday night at 2Kolegas with Residence A, Devils at the Crossroad and thruoutin (40元), then Saturday at Temple with The Dyne, Fuzzy Mood, and The Last Three Minutes (free).

Stream some tracks below, and hit these dudes up over the weekend. The shows are solid and this is a conceptually interesting album, indicative of the strange hybrid forms and progressive output possible in this postmodern melting pot.

Friend or Foe – “Snortin’ Clorox (thruoutin remix)”

Friend or Foe – “Burnt Out Buildings (The Horses remix)”

Friend or Foe – “Smith and Wesson (Luwan Rock remix)”
