Subjam Noise Comp: Call for Submissions
By Josh, 2011年 11月 25日
Yan Jun of Subjam and Shenyang-based music writer Beijita have just posted an open call on Douban seeking submissions for a noise compilation cd. The comp will be co-compiled by the duo, and the exact format will be decided once all the submissions are in. You have until the end of the year to send something in digital format to Beijita. All the relevant information can be found in an English translation below.
The Chinese letter:
English translation:
Ladies and Gentlemen, happy Winter. Hope you’re not too cold, wherever you are.
Subjam is planning a noise compilation cd. We’ve previously released a voice compilation (Oral Works), an improv guitar compilation (Handcraft), and others. This time we want to enter the noise field. In the end we will release about 200 CDRs, maybe one disk, maybe two disks, maybe three disks… We will decide the specific format later, when Beijita and Yan Jun compile it.
As for the noise works, we have one very small request:
It’s best that your work be a loud noise piece, and not too diverse in its range or its definition of “noise”… for example, please do not include static noise or field recordings.
No time limit (although if it’s too long, we may request a replacement). Preferred format is .wav file, 16/44.1. Please mark the piece’s name, year of creation, and a brief description of the equipment used. Please provide mailing address and website (and clearly indicate if you don’t want this information publicized). If necessary please indicate others credits (for example: mastering information, sample sources, guest performances, etc).
Please note: we may not use all of the submissions we receive. But we will definitely hold on to the contact information for future reference, in any case.
Deadline: 31 December, 2011
If you are interested, please use soundcloud.com to submit your work to Beijita: kurt413@163.com
You can also upload to an alternate file-sharing service of your choice. (Note, however, that other services have the possibility of misplacing your data. Soundcloud is relatively reliable.) In this case, please pass on the download link and a short description to the above email.
